The brief

Magick Companion is my app for planetary timing. It needed a launch film for Reels, Shorts and the website, in three formats, without stock footage and without a single invented screen.

The idea

Start with the fact the app is built on. A ring of 24 colored hours, twelve by day and twelve by night, turns by match cut into the wheel of the Today screen. From there the film needs three verbs only: read, rite, record.

Inside the film

  1. The counter runs twelve by day, then twelve by night, while the ring fills in the Chaldean order.

  2. Push-in on the Hour card. Every screen is a recording of the app, cropped, never redrawn.

  3. The Ritual Planner, one tap per beat at 96 BPM.

  4. Record the work: a real check-in with its slider, timed to the bar.

The finished film

A 27.5-second film in three formats: 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9. Each version comes from the same timeline, with sound mixed for social playback.
