The brief

Planetary hours are the core of Magick Companion, and most people have never heard of them. An organic Reel had to explain the idea before viewers scroll on, with nothing important under the caption bar.

The idea

Draw the idea in the order you would draw it on paper: 24 empty segments, then the seven rulers filling their hours clockwise, then one theme word under each name. Only then does the ring snap onto the real app.

Inside the film

  1. Twenty-four empty hours. The labels say what the app computes: sunrise to sunset, sunset to sunrise.

  2. Each ruler fills all of its hours at once, so the order becomes visible as color.

  3. Match cut: the drawn ring lands on the wheel of the real Today screen.

  4. The theme from the diagram, Purpose, is the one the app shows on its Hour card.

The finished film

A 17.5-second vertical film. The final version connects each planetary ruler with a theme before showing that theme in the app.
